Welcome to the Family & Consumer Sciences Website!

Profile PictureAs we transition to full-time distance learning, please know that you are already ahead of the curve in FCS. We have been using Google Classroom all year. We will continue to access and submit assignments online, or you can pick up a traditional paper packet from the front office at the beginning of each week that we are away from campus. Bookmark the following websites or download the following apps on your personal device: Google Classroom, Google Docs, Google Drive, & Google Keep.  You may also need to utilize the “Notes” feature on your phone to complete some of our assignments.

One of the most important things I want you to remember is our Class Theme for the 2019-2020 school year – “All In”. During the first week of school, I shared a message and video with you about being “All In.” I also gave each of you a plastic chip to remind you of the theme and encouraged you to write how you were going to be “All In” on it. Now, I’m asking you to reflect upon that moment. Videos that we viewed in class: “All In” (short video) “All In Ted Talk” (longer video)

I need for you to be “All In.” Being “All In” could mean the following things for you:

  • Adjusting to a non-traditional school setting and learning online
  • Pacing yourself to complete and submit classwork
  • Helping out at home
  • Spending quality time with family members or virtually connecting with loved ones
  • Working in a variety of ways or for a variety of reasons
  • Getting enough sleep and resting when necessary
  • Supporting your friends, family, neighbors, and community
  • Seeking out help for mental and emotional health and well being
  • Staying mentally and physically active
  • Continuing in your faith or positive thinking about the future
  • Providing help to a friend, loved one, a neighbor, or even a stranger
  • Staying informed

This is an unusual and uncertain time for all of us. Please know that I/WE MISS & LOVE YOU and are concerned about your safety and well being. You and your families are in my thoughts and prayers. Please let me know if you have questions or difficulties with the assignments – I think you will find them to be fun and important real-life skills. Also, please let us know if you need anything during this time and we will do our best to provide resources. Until we see each other again...PANTHERS ARE ALL IN!!!

Take Care,

Mrs. P.
